Science Week in 5th and 6th

Hello there!
Another week has passed us by, and as you probably know, it was Science Week.! We learned a lot about science throughout the week, which culminated in a Science Assembly on Friday. It was such a fun assembly, we loved seeing what the other classes learned about, and they showed us all the cool experiments they did. It was most thought provoking indeed!
We presented two experiments in assembly. We are still learning all about the human body in science, and this week we studied the tongue and our taste buds. Here are some photos of our experiment. Well done to the volunteers who took part to make it a fair test!

Our second investigation was to study the amount of oxygen in the air, and how it affects the lighting of our candles, and the effect oxygen has on the burning of a flame.

The presenters were outstanding in the assembly. I couldn't have explained it better myself. I was so proud of them!

On another note, we started learning how to play the tin whistle this week. We have mastered the scale, and some have learned to tunes songs already!

We produced some simply magnificent pieces of writing, using our toy soldiers as characters.

And one student presented this masterpiece!
Our homework on Thursday night was to start organising all the information we had gleaned about the war, and to put it in order for our projects. One child produced this! It is a timeline of the events of the war, from June 1914 to November 1919. Isn't is amazing?! And the relevant country flags are on each fact. I was so impressed!

That's all for now!
