Harvest Fair - October 13th

We now jump forward to our next big school event, Harvest Fair, which took place in school on Friday the 13th of October. Thankfully, there was no bad luck to be had on the day and we all had a great time.

For the fair, we created a Harvest Fair mural as a class which turned out fantastically well. For the Harvest Fair Show, we created Harvest-themed drama skits in groups which we performed along with our class song: Autumn Leaves by Ed Sheeran!

We also participated in the conker competition with Brandon Kinsella from 6th and Lucy Joyce from 5th emerging as our semi finallists. Brandon eventually went on to win the final and take home the trophy, we were all very proud of his achievement!

Many in our class helped out on the day too by spreading hay in the yard, setting up the Green Room and baking treats for the day (Bobbi's Brownies were particularly popular!)

Our day culminated in taking part in our whole school Harvest Medley. Overall, everyone enjoyed themselves and represented 5th and 6th class brilliantly on the day!

Sports Day in St. Margaret's!

Our next big event was our Kilcoskan N.S. September School Sports Day which happened on the 29th of September, which we had due to missing out on our Sports Day last June with bad weather.

As the senior class in the school, we had a lot of responsibility in helping to set up the various events, but we also took part ourselves and a lot of fun doing so! Some of the events we took part in were the sprints, the relays, hurdles, sack race, egg and spoon and the javelin!

5th and 6th 2017!

Hello everyone and welcome to the first post on our blog for Kilcoskan N.S. 5th and 6th Class 2017/18!
It has taken some time and a lot of technical issues but we are finally up and running and hope to be posting here regularly between now and the end of the year!

First of all, we must update you all on the variety of different things that we have done both in and out of class during Term 1 from August to Halloween:

Our first major event was a 6th class trip to Finglas Garda Station on Wednesday September 27th as part of the station's 2017 Open Day. We were picked up at 10am on the morning by Garda Brian and enjoyed some excellent music on the bus on the way in!
After arriving, we got a look inside a Garda Surveillance Unit truck which was parked outside the station. Inside, we saw security cameras, maps and other high-tech equipment used by the Gardai.

As well as this, we got to meet representatives of the different Garda units such as the Armed Support Unit, the Detective Unit, the Mounted Unit and Canine Support Unit (including one support dog named Roxie who was very popular!) We also got to pay a visit to the cells and got to hear the Garda Pipe Band play for us.

Overall, we had a great day thanks to the lovely men and women of Finglas Garda Station who made it a very interesting and informative day for us!
