Christmas Art in 5th and 6th

Breaking News in Kilcoskan! It is with great pride and joy, that I announce the following. A boy in 6th class, completed a long division problem using 30 digits this week. THIRTY! It took up two copy pages! The 6th class curriculum goes up to dividing by four digit numbers, so this is quite the extraordinary feat. I think we have unearthed a mathematical genius!

In other news, we are busy working on our Christmas stockings! A big thank you again to the two parents who came in last Friday to help with the sewing of the stockings. We had a mixture in the class of people who have never sewn, and those who sew regularly with their parents or grandparents. So we all did really well. The stockings will hopefully be finished this Friday.

5th and 6th Class prepare for Christmas!

Hello everyone,

Just a quick update! We finished our World War One unit last week. We made these war scenes using old shoe boxes and materials.

We had a very special visitor who kindly came to speak to us and show us war artefacts. Our visitor's grandfather fought in world war one! He showed us medals for bravery, discharge papers, old letter and photographs, and pay slips! It really brought the whole experience to life for us.

Now that it is December, we are ready for Christmas! We started making decorations in art. We also put up our tree today, the excitement is just palpable! It isn't decorated yet but when it is we will share photos!

We are making Christmas stockings in art too. We are all working hard on our sewing skills, and some of us even brought the stockings home and finished them off. Well done everyone!

And... our classroom door has had a festive overhaul!
