Olivia's Report : Whales
Report:
Whales
Even though Whales look similar to fish they are mammals just
like us humans. One of the reasons they are mammals is that they have to come
up to surface to breathe, but they can stay under water for quite awhile. They
also look after their children and feed them on milk.
Whales with teeth are called ‘‘ Toothed Whales‘‘ ( no surprise
there), but Whales with bristly brushes instead of teeth called balleen plates
are named Balleen Whales. Balleen Whales only eat tiny sea creatures. Balleen
Whales have two blowholes where as Toothed Whales have only one
The Blue Whales is the largest sea mammal and the biggest
animal that has ever lived. An adult Blue Whale can weigh as much as 20 African
Elephants!!
Male Humpback Whales sing songs to females. Each song lasts
for about half an hour and may be sung over and over again.
FUN FACTS:
·
When we
open our eyes in salt water the salt makes them sting. But Whales make special
oily tears to protect their eyes.
·
The
Sperm Whale has the biggest brain of any animal. Its brain weighs 7.8kg, about
five times as much as a human brain
·
Blue
whales are so enormous that they could not live on land as their lungs would be
crushed under the weight of their body so they wouldn’t be able to breathe.
·
A baby
whale is called a calf . the calf
stays with its mother for two or three years.
·
Fin
Whales have voices that are louder than jet planes.

Tristan's Business
My name is Tristan Murphy. I BMX and scooter.I make skate wax and skate stickers and I sell them.My skate
wax comes in all different colours.I make it with cooking oil
butter and wax if you want colour in it put a crayon or coloured wax in it.You
can use any wax, tea candles, old candle wax etc .Then put all of the stuff into a
can and put it on a pan until it melts. When it melts pour it in a mold of your
choice.Wait until it hardens and you're done.To make stickers you will need an image, a sticky name tag ,tape and glue.First you need to glue the part where you
write your name and leave the sticky cover on.Put your tape on top of your
sticker then take the sticky cover of and stick it on. That's it for now, more entrepreneurial tips coming soon!
