We also learnt about the story of how she came to make her cross. She was visiting a man who was very stick and was talking to him about God. She picked up rushes from the floor and made a cross to help her explain about the Holy Trinity. The man was converted and we came to have Saint Brigid's crosses.
The prayer that accompanies the cross is to bless the home the cross is in and the people who live there. We made our own crosses out of rushes today and brought them home to put up in our homes.
We split into groups and made both the traditional cross and a variation of the cross. Which type do you prefer?
