Harvest Fair and Our Soldiers Visit

Friday was a tremendously exciting day for us. Not only did we have our much anticipated Harvest Fair, we also had a visit from two soldiers from the Irish Army! They spoke to us about 1916 and presented us with a flag and a copy of the proclamation. I think it was a day we will all remember fondly in years to come!

 Hello everyone!

We had our Harvest Fair this week. It was such a great day. We were busy all week learning about harvesting and working on our mural, and practicing for the conker competition.! We will attach more photos of that later!

Emma's Recount of the Harvest Fair of 2014

Last year’s harvest fair was an amazing event!!!  We came in that morning and there was several hay bales on the yard. The teachers said that we needed to spread the hay all around the yard, so we just had a big hay fight, which the teachers soon ended.

We went into our prefabs then and hung up some decorations. 

The day before that, we had to make a scarecrow from scratch. We managed to do it and also got a reward!

Teacher Eoin was in charge of the “Needle in a hay stack “and I won one and so did my partner.

I was knocked out of the conker competition very early and was sad but my brother Eoghan did really well and got to the finals.

Eoghan was against Rua and it was very intense. I really wanted him to win. He won!J  And I was the proudest sister ever.

We had spent a week preparing for the dance and we did it and it turned out really well.

I had a really nice day at the harvest fair and I came home tired and with a lot of hay in my boots!

Angles, Gaeilge and France!

Hello everyone!

We were learning about lines and angles this week in 5th and 6th class. We also had a Gaeilge challenge, and we completed our projects on France. Here we are, proving to be most industrious, as ever!

 We made acute, right, reflex, straight and obtuse angles using lollipop sticks:

We were studying some very difficult grammar in Irish today. We did very well and so, as a reward we had our Gaeilge challenge outside. We love making use of our environment to enhance our learning! We worked in our house teams: Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Dumbledore's Army. We wrote down all the Irish words we could see in the environment. Well done to all teams- and to Gryffindor who were the overall winners!

We finished our projects on France! We are learning a lot about the EU as part of our Blue Star programme. We will have more photos tomorrow!

Debating, Investigating and Our Window Sill Garden!

Hello everyone,

Here we are, into October already. Where are the days going! As usual, we will be keeping you up to date on the happenings in our school.


We had our final week of philosophy for children. We practiced our debating skills and did very well. We were so good we won a yo-yo each!

 
6th class exhibited excellent debating skills!

We have been exploring the amount of sugar in foods over the past two weeks. This week, we explored the amount of sugar in beverages we drink. The results were surprising! We will share them with you next week.
